Our company
Love for high quality since 1904
Our history is about a family that for more than a century has been handing down from one generation to another the passion for high quality products, maintaining the secrets of tradition.
The indissoluble bond with the territory is a key concept for the making of a noble product: the olive oil. The company, born in 1904, rises in the vast territory next to the historical Roman
mansion owned by the Giovannuzzi family, who personally take care of the whole process of production of all the agricultural products. The family mansion has a centuries-long history; the oldest research indeed dates back to 1300 for the Tower, that for its magnificence inspired the name of the business. It’s located in Agello, in the city of Magione, West of Perugia, in the Southern part of the lake Trasimeno. We belong to the wonderful and fertile Colli del Trasimeno area, awarding the D.O.P. status guarantee. The total area extends over 230 hectars, 35 of them are dedicated to olive grove, 20 to the vineyard and the rest to open field cultivation.
Our olive trees reveal a generations-long quality
Cultivar
MORAIOLO
It’s the most common cultivar in Umbria and it’s known for being a variety of great quality. Its fruit has a small round-ovoid shape, with an elliptic-lanceolate shaped leaf. Its color, during the riping process, changes from green to purple red to black. Its flowering takes place at the same time of Frantoio and Leccino, therefore it can get great pollinations. The Moraiolo is a rustic tree, who adapts to the soil, exclusively on a hilly terrain. Everyone who is fond of the fruity taste, will surely love this variety. The medium-intense fruity scent is nuanced by a bitter-spicy taste. The oil is decisive and captivating who can perfectly accompany a wide variety of plates: salad, meat or
even shellfish. The color is green with some golden highlights. Its high and regular productivity is characterized by a great quantity of polyphenols.

DOLCE AGOGIA
LECCINO
The highest ripening period is belated. The flowering happens in the same period of the other
cultivars Frantoio and Moraiolo. The elliptical-shaped fruit presents an early, simultaneous and
rapid veraison. It is used both for oil extraction and as table “black” olives. Oil qualitative
characteristics: the color is light green tending to golden yellow. Its scents are balanced between
bitter, spicy, sweet, and fruity with light scent of almond.
FRANTOIO
This is one of the most cultivated varieties. The veraison is slow and belated. The color changes
from light green to purple red, ending in black. Its flowering happens in the same period as Leccino
and Moraiolo. Oil qualitative characteristics: dense and aromatic, dark green but that shows
golden grains. The aroma suggests the taste of olive, fresh grass, artichoke with a pungent and
herbal note.

The oil of Trasimeno

Our guarantee is our firsthand job
Producing a high quality oil requires passion, commitment and attention towards every single tree and every single stage of production: from the care of the olive trees to the harvest. Giovannuzzi family produces oil since 1904, when the forefather Monsignor Nazareno Marzolini offers the manor to Maria Marzolini for the marriage with Donato Giovannuzzi. Today the company’s reins are firmly held by Monsignor’s three great-grandchildren. When the olives reach the riping stage, Filippo, Giacomo and the rest of the family gather on the hills. Here they spend intense days closely with the nature to experience the most awaited moment of the year. On the 35 hectares destinated to the olive grove there are more than 7000 trees, and the vast majority is centuries-old.
“Constancy” is our watchword, held together with the memory of our ancestors and
traditions, which have been for us a huge source of inspiration. At the same time, we look toward
the future, into the innovations the fast-changing word offers. The continuous updating, together
with a childhood spent in close contact with field work provide the winning combination.
“Learn art and lay it apart” is the recommendation we believe the most, and that will continue to hand down to our heirs.
